Mackay Port Authority owns and operates the Port of Mackay.
The port:
- operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
- typically handles some 150 major vessels per annum dependent upon seasonally affected agricultural production outcomes
- is Queensland's fourth busiest multi-commodity port in terms of cargo throughput
- in 2001/02 generated seaport operating revenue of over $8.5 million
