Regional Mackay goes on display
Posted on Monday, 26 July 2004 @ 3:49:34 PM

The Mackay Port Authority and the Department of State Development and Innovation are joining forces to give regional councils and tourism groups a voice at the Queensland Mining Exhibition.

Inspecting the Mackay Port Authority display at the QME are (from left) Kevin McCulloch of Nixon Communications and Bruce Jeffrey from Icom Australia.

Seven of the region’s nine councils will be represented. Tourism Mackay, Tourism Whitsunday and the Mackay Whitsunday Regional Economic Development Corporation were  invited to participate in the regional display.

Whitsunday Hinterland and Mackay Bowen Regional Organisation of Councils executive officer Peter Sherlock said the exposure would allow the councils to showcase their backyard in terms of lifestyle, investment and development.

“It’s an opportunity many of these councils would have missed because of the cost involved in participating in an exhibition of this size and nature,” he said.

Mackay Port Authority communications manager Colin Wilson said the MPA was keen to lift the profile of its harbourside industrial estate and other development opportunities available at Mackay Airport.

Generous build/lease terms are available in stage one with fully serviced blocks ranging from 4155 sqm.

The industrial estate is strategically placed on the doorstep of a deepwater port – serviced by rail and road transport infrastructure.

A boost in demand has the MPA now focusing on stage two of the estate. More information is available by contacting the MPA’s corporate services manager Bernie Scott on 07 47588120 or email [email protected]

The Queensland Mining Exhibition will run from Tuesday, July 27 to Thursday, July 29.

The exhibition includes more than 450 displays from local, Queensland, national and international companies.
