The Mackay Port Authority has formed a committee of airport operators to help improve ramp safety at Mackay Airport.

The committee held its inaugural meeting today where a wide range of topics including airside driving licences and standards, regulations and security issues were discussed.

The committee (pictured below) comprises (from left) Brendan McCormack (aviation Ground Handling), Graham Mitchell (Aviation Ground Handling), Dan Firth (Aviation Ground Handling), Gordon Haggarty (Mackay Aviation Services), Mackay Airport airside safety supervisor Norm Burns and Mackay Airport operations manager Ray Waters.

Mr Waters said the committee was formed to help improve ground handling operations at Mackay Airport.

“Everyone is committed to implementing and maintaining the highest degree of ramp safety and workplace, health and safety standards at the airport,’ he said.

The committee will meet again on April 14.
