Developer Greg Long today unveiled a scale model of the $250 million East Point tourism and residential development.

The model went on display at Mackay's Caneland Central this morning.

Mr Long said the scale model would give people a clear understanding of the project.

It is important people know the facts and aren't misled by misinformation being generated by some groups, he said. It also gives people an accurate idea of how the surrounding eco-system will be managed.

The first sod on the 70 ha site is expected to be turned in July.

It is an exciting project that will eventually generate great benefits for Mackay, he said.
