Three 40 metre long, heavy machinery transporters will soon go into service at the Bowen Basin coal mines, after recently being shipped from Taiwan to Mackay.

The loaders arrived in six sections - each weighing 80 tonne - and will be assembled to form three, 40 metre long self-propelled modules at McAleese Transport's Milton Street yard.

Each module will be capable of carrying equipment weighing up to 850 tonne.

McAleese Transportgeneral managerKeith Price said the modules would be used extensively in the Bowen Basin mining industry.

There was also potential for the modules to be shipped overseas for use on major international projects.
