Old Mulherin Park plans on display

Posted on 19 Apr 2007 by mackayports

The Mackay Port Authority has moved to allay fears that old Mulherin Park is to be commercialised and is again encouraging people to have their say on draft land use plans covering Mackay's sea and air ports.

New South Wales visitors Mrs Jodie Nixon and daughters Tahlia and Summah-Lee of Lake Munmorah inspect play-ground options for old Mulherin Park at a display at Mackay Airport.

The Mackay Port Authority has released concept plans that will further enhance the community’s experience at popular old Mulherin Park.

In October last year, the MPA Board gave the $500 000 facelift in principle support and according to acting CEO Marilyn Symes children could be swinging from the exciting new play equipment within 18 months.

Ms Symes says the concept plans are on display at Mackay Airport, and at the city’s two libraries.

People will be able to inspect the park plans and review the MPA's draft land use plans for the seaport and airport at the three venues.

Ms Symes stressed the MPA had a commitment to providing old Mulherin Park for the enjoyment of future generations.

The Mackay Port Authority is also encouraging people to have their say on the draft land use plans.
